Health Sector

Sustainable Wales and Waste Awareness Wales are working together to deliver a Welsh Assembly initiative to promote Real Nappies in Wales. The Health Sector is key to delivering the messages of the campaign as they have regular contact with parents and parents to be, and are often the first port of call for parents wishing to seek information on the types and benefits of the range of nappies available.

In order to assist Midiwives and Health Visitors to be able to provide parents with accurate and up to date information we have developed a number of resources. These include, posters, leaflets, DVD, sample nappy, nappy guide and information cards. We also can assist with parent craft classes, demonstrations and health sector events.

For midwives and health visitors in training we have also created an interactive classroom presentation.

On Wednesday 16th July 2008 the NHS Procurement body NHS Supply Chain in conjunction with Cooneen (Manufacturer) recognised the Stork eco nappy for purchase

It is made by a (PRIME) British Public Sector Textile Manufacturer maintaining and creating employment within the UK –using materials sourced from the UK and Europe.

The nappy took two years to develop - see product development strategy in NHS document followed by four years of trials in NHS Pilot sites, it is now ready for NHS nation wide implementation.
